Fresh from the Italian Bolognese capital and the bustle of the Cosmoprof show, we are back from Bologna! We had a week in the city, to prepare for, work on and enjoy the Cosmoprof Worldwide beauty show which ran from the 4th – 7th April. Every year, manufacturers, distributors and suppliers of all sizes come to Bologna for this prestigious show, to show off new products, sample the finest new fragrances, try out the best hand creams and generally take in everything beauty and cosmetic related. The Somerset Toiletry Company Bologna Our booth showcased our five brands; Naturally European, Aromas Artesnales de Antigua, Tropical Fruits, Gardeners Therapy and Greenscape, and was run by a team of our finest; Jeremy, Charlotte, Naomi and David who worked their magic and showed off our products to all our customers, old and new. The Dream Team We had the chance to catch up with some of our lovely customers from all over the world, including Saponi from Sweden, Terrigeno from Norway, and Regional Health from New Zealand. We saw some weird and wonderful things at the show, including some funky costume make up, a lot of sponges and a huge three wheeler motorcycle, which I got particularly excited about…and of course a rather attractive Lamborghini! Sponges26 28Bike The city itself is full of charm and character, with bold terracotta buildings and sunshine soaked rooftops scattered throughout. The city has a mixture of medieval towers, antique buildings, churches and monuments, all centered around a very pretty square, where the Basilica of San Petronio stands tall. Bologna Rooftops   Bologna Square We ate well and enjoyed Bologna’s delicious cuisine in a number of the city’s restaurants, tasting some delightful dishes including tagliatelle, calamari, panacotta and of course Bolognese! Our favourites were Cesarina, Antica Trattoria Romagnola and Trattoria Battibecco. Squid in Bologna 24 We also managed to squeeze in a little mooch around the city to see the architecture, history and Italian culture. The city is beautiful, with a fine Basilica in the centre of the square and a number of cute alley ways and cobbled streets that run off it. The Two Towers of Bologna make for a striking picture (especially when the sky is as blue as it was when we were there) one slightly wonky tower and the other standing tall and dominating the Bologna skyline. Bologna Two Towers Bologna Market Street We gained a lot from visiting the show, seeing exhibitors’ new creations, getting feedback on our products, and generally soaking up the fast paced beauty world vibe…until next year…thank you Cosmoporf Worldwide and thank you Bologna!
