As part of our ongoing commitment to community we have recently partnered with SWALLOW Charity. An incredible local organisation that have been providing support for adults and teenagers with learning disabilities for the last 30 years. The vital work they do encourages their members to live independently, have a rich and varied social life and learn important life skills. They support more than 170 individuals in and around Bath & North East Somerset and have cafés in Radstock or Peasedown.
Following an initial meeting with the lovely ladies who work for SWALLOW, we agreed it would be a nice idea to invite a group of members to visit our soap factory in Hallatrow. Zantore welcomed the group to our manufacturing facility to share behind the scenes, how we make our soap. We discussed the ingredients used and how passionate we are about RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil. We showed how, once the ingredients are blended with fragrance, the soap is shaped, cut and stamped. The bars are then stacked to dry before we can wrap and ship out to our customers all over the world!
The group thoroughly enjoyed the visit and although a little noisy in the factory, everyone commented on how amazing the soap making process smells! Following the tour of the factory, we headed back up to our HQ in Clutton where we enjoyed some hot drinks and delicious cake in The Soap Bar Café. All of the group members then had the opportunity to try wrapping some soap by hand. Certainly a skill that you build over time, the soap bars were then gifted to the members along with a STC tote bag as a reminder of their visit.
We had such a wonderful time sharing with SWALLOW a little more about we do here in Somerset. We’re also looking at opportunities of how we can work more closely with the members moving forward. One project we’re very excited about is collaborating on a limited-edition soap as part of our ‘25 for 25’ initiative this year. SWALLOW members will be designing the artwork and we’ll be creating a soap with to help fundraise, so watch this space!
